The Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme

Immigration Hong Kong Scheme: The Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (referred to as "Quality Migrant") was announced on June 28, 2006, and is implemented through two application methods: the "General Points Test" and the "Achievement-based Points Test." Under the General Points Test, applicants are granted a two-year visa, and if they meet the requirement of "having settled in Hong Kong and made contributions to Hong Kong," they can apply for renewal after two years. The renewal of the visa is granted in the form of 2+3+3 years (top-tier talents can apply for 2+6 years). Under the Achievement-based Points Test, applicants can obtain an eight-year visa in one go. Both methods allow for the application of permanent residency after fulfilling the requirement of seven years. The eligibility criteria for the Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (Quality Migrant Program) 

Initial Application Requirements:

  1. Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

  2. No criminal record: Applicants must have no criminal records.

  3. Bachelor's degree: Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree.

  4. Proof of savings: HKD 200,000 for single applicants or HKD 400,000 for families.

Applicants can choose either the "General Points Test" or the "Achievement-based Points Test" to meet the requirements:

  1. If the applicant meets the Talent List, the minimum points required is 80.

  2. If the applicant is in the "Financial and Accounting Services" or "Information Technology and Telecommunications" industry, or holds a bachelor's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics from a world's top-ranking university, the minimum points required is 90.

  3. For applicants in other industries who meet the Global Talent Occupation List, the minimum points required is 105.

Applicants can meet the requirements if they fulfill one of the following advantages:

 

  1. The applicant has received distinguished awards (e.g., Olympic medals, Nobel Prize, national/international awards).

  2. The applicant can demonstrate industry recognition for their work or significant contributions to their field (e.g., receiving a lifetime achievement award from the industry).
